Kinda strange because it has always seemed pleasing until last night. I have no reason at this point to distrust the G2 and wouldn't hesitate taking it 'into battle', but there are always good reasons for back-up systems/bodies, etc, as well.ДЄs everyone knows, the lenses are out of this world, but I did get some rather harsh looking bokeh from my 45mm last night. When you put in a new set, be on the lookout for another set to stick in the bag. How long is 'extended travel use'? I don't know for how long and how much the camera would be used, but I'd think a few sets of spare batteries are always good practice with any camera, anyway. I don't think the finish makes it appear too special. I think it's seen as an inexpensive point-n-shoot by everyone. I've used it quite a bit, and haven't had to touch the spare batteries I'm carrying.Д«eyond that, no, I don't think the camera draws any undue attention. The one I got came with some used batteries and have been fine for the time I've had it (since early summer).

They really grow on you, as you use them, making it difficult to sell them off - not for their cosmetic condition, but for you to thinking it over, why you would sell off this nicely working, proven tool. This brings us to another issue of black paint items:

My M8.2 and my daily ball pen interestingly have exactly the very same cosmetic, worn condition and I wouldn't part for money from either. I simply love the idea of a true patina with certain tools, of which the wear of black paint on a beautiful brass base is one of the nicest.ДЄnecdotally, I also prefer this patina with my writing tools, using daily a set of Rotring black enamel on brass F600 pens, which date back to the drawing board days, involved in mechanical design. Interestingly, it has absolutely nothing to do with the 'batch of honor thing', you are mentioning (and I absolutely despise the look of a sandpapered and filed camera, some nut cases have achieved). I am with the folks, who prefer black paint on brass with camera gear.
